At the bar where I sat to watch the Belgium- England match, this dude sitting next to me had placed all his focus on me. I didn't know why and I didn't bother. I made my order; catfish pepper soup and a bottle of my brand and waited for the match to kick off fully.
He didn't stop staring and it got me curious so when he saluted me with his bottle, I returned the gesture. Then we took a hefty sips from our cups. Moments into the game he started a conversation. I wasn't ready for any and at the same time I didn't want to be seen as a snub.
 "I have been looking at you since I came in" he said still fixedly looking at me
 "I noticed, so why if I may ask"
 "Its rare to see a girl all by herself in a place like this without the company of a man. I was searching to see if you were waiting for someone.
I laughed
" Is that it? It's just the way the society makes it look as if girls can't do anything on their own. Sometimes you could go out with a friend, at other times you could go out all alone.
 "So you drink eh? Or is it because you're in an open place?
" I drink occasionally. Not to impress anyone, just when I feel like. "
 "That means you're a bad girl uhh?"
Hia, that was the first shocker I had that evening. This is one of the chauvinistic talk I hate. So when a guy drinks, he is enjoying himself but when a girl drinks, she is a bad girl.
I ignored him. I totally did. I focused more on the match. Then he came again.
 "Why haven't you pierced your ears, are you a deeper life member?
" it has nothing to do with my place of worship, my parents just didn't do it for me when I was born"
 "Hmm your parents are wicked o!"
 Jeeezzz, another shocker. I could ignore this one.
 "Non of my siblings have pierced ear-hole. My parents know better to keep us the way we were born, giving us the privilege to make our choices when we grow"  My elder sister did hers when she was all grown.
 "So what church do you attend"?
" House on the rock"
Squeezing his forehead he asked " So why haven't you pierced yours? "
 " the last time I tried after much compulsion from friends, it was too painful and I had rashes all over my ears. Morever, I don't believe jewelries makes one more or less beautiful, so I don't bother getting them"
 "So you don't wear earings?"
 " No, I don't "
 "That means you're a lesbian?"
 I was completely awed by this dudes myopic thinking. This is why I like conversation only with intelligent and matured minds. I got mad at myself for wasting my precious time talking to someone who obviously broke free from a psychiatric hospital.
I wanted to scream out " dude, you're so unexposed and daft"  but I curtailed myself. Instead I just got up, picked up my belongings and before walking out, I turned and spoke to him in the coolest way, trying not to show my aggression.
 "In my opinion, you will be considered wiser and more knowledgeable if you stay silent. SILENCE makes no mistakes and has never dissapointed. The higher an ape climbs, the more he exposed his bald ass....Please utilize silence. Thank you"
